Texas Instruments ISO6163 Six-Channel 3/3 Digital Isolators

Texas Instruments ISO6163 Six-Channel 3/3 Digital Isolators are high-performance digital isolators designed for high energy efficiency and cost-sensitive applications requiring up to 5000VRMS isolation ratings per UL 1577. These devices are also certified by VDE, TUV, CSA, and CQC. The ISO6163 devices are optimized with low quiescent current and bidirectional automatic enablement of high-speed data channels for use in high energy efficiency applications such as appliances, battery monitoring, metering, and the grid.

These devices are designed with low power consumption, high electromagnetic immunity, and low emissions while isolating CMOS or LVCMOS digital I/O signals such as GPIOs, SPI (ADC, DAC, other peripherals), UART, RS-485, RS-232, and CAN. Each channel has a logic input and output buffer separated by TI’s proprietary silicon dioxide (SiO2) isolation barrier.

The TI ISO6163 device has three forward channels and three reverse-direction channels. It provides two low-speed data channels with bidirectional automatic enable control functionality. The low-speed control channels automatically enable the high-speed channels when needed or turn them off (outputs high impedance) to further reduce power consumption when the system does not require high-speed data transfer. In the event of input power or signal loss, the default output level is high for devices without the suffix F and low for devices with the suffix F.
