Skyworks Solutions Inc. Si82Bx Isolated Gate Drivers
Skyworks Solutions Inc. Si82Bx Isolated Gate Drivers are single-channel isolated gate drivers for high-power applications. The Si82Bx series comprises devices with either a single output or split outputs, allowing for independent control of the output rise and fall times. These drivers can operate with a 3V to 20V input supply and a maximum gate driver supply voltage of 30V. The inputs are CMOS, which provides a robust noise margin.
The Si82Bx is ideal for driving power silicon MOSFETs and IGBTs used in various switched power and motor control applications. These drivers utilize Skyworks' proprietary silicon isolation technology, supporting up to 6kVRMS for 1-minute isolation voltage. This technology enables high CMTI (200kV/µs), lower propagation delays and skew, slight variation with temperature and age, and tight part-to-part matching. The Si82Bx family offers longer service life and higher reliability than optocoupled gate drivers.
The output stage is a voltage source with robust current output across operating conditions. It features voltage mode drive technology using a familiar current-limiting resistor, allowing a power designer to optimize for switching speed, emissions control, and overshoot limitation. The driver family also offers features, such as an integrated Miller clamp for clamping any Miller current effects, Undervoltage Lockout (UVLO), input overlap protection, and defined output states in all operating conditions.
The Skyworks Solutions Inc. Si82Bx is available in an automotive grade. The gate drivers are built using automotive-specific flows at all manufacturing steps to confirm the robustness and low defectivity needed for automotive applications.
