Mikroe MIKROE-3176 LightRanger 4 Click is an accurate distance measurement Click board based on a time of flight (ToF) measurement principle. This click board uses an STMicroelectronics FlightSense™-enabled VL53L1X Rangefinder Module. Mikroe MIKROE-3176 LightRanger 4 click features contactless measurement between 40mm and up to 4000mm. Typical applications include counting dimensions of goods in industrial, controlling a safety area, building contactless digital measurement tools, and 3D visual guidance applications in robotics.
The integrated VL53L1X sensor uses the invisible class-1 laser emitter that emits a narrow band of a harmless modulated light-beam in the range of 940nm. The light emission is in the IR range of the spectrum and it is not visible by a human eye. The VL53L1X ToF sensor encompasses several integrated sections and embedded with an MCU, OTP-memory, RAM-area, ROM-area, range processing unit, and the VCSEL driver.
