FTDI Chip FT260 Bridge IC

FTDI Chip FT260 Bridge IC is an interface device controller that provides a bridge between standard USB HID class drivers and an I2C slave device and/or UART device. The USB HID class is supported by most operating systems, and a custom driver is not required. The FTDI Chip FT260 is highly integrated with a USB 2.0-compliant full-speed transceiver, oscillator PLL, LDO regulator, and on-chip eFUSE.

Features

  • Single-chip USB to UART/I2C bridge with standard Human Interface Device (HID) class support
  • Support two USB HID interfaces, each corresponding to the on-chip physical interfaces, I2C and UART
  • Support 4-speed modes defined in I2C-bus specification, standard mode (SM), fast mode (FM), fast mode plus (FM+), and high-speed mode (HS)
  • Robust FTDI UART controller with hardware and software flow control
  • The data transfer rate from 1.2Kbaud to 12Mbaud (RS422, RS485, RS232) at TTL levels
  • Fully integrated oscillator PLL with no external crystal required
  • Multiple I/O operating voltage levels 1.8V to 3.3V
  • USB2.0 Low operating and suspend current; 24mA (active-typ) and 385μA (suspend-typ)
  • -40 to 85⁰C extended operating temperature range
  • Available in compact Pb-free 28-pin WQFN packages (RoHS compliant)

Applications

  • HID class device controller
  • USB to HID-over-I2C bridge
  • USB to I2C master controller
  • USB to RS232/RS422/RS485 converters
  • Interfacing MCU/PLD/FPGA based designs to USB
  • USB instrumentation

UMFT260EV1A Development Module

FTDI Chip FT260 Bridge IC

FTDI UMFT260EV1A Development Module is for FTDI's FT260, HID-class USB to UART/I2C Bridge IC. The UMFT260EV1A is ideal for adding USB to a target design. The UMFT260EV1A is designed to plug into a standard 0.8" wide 24-pin DIP socket. The USB connection to a host system is via a Micro USB-B connector.

UMFTPD3A Universal Programmer Module

FTDI Chip FT260 Bridge IC

FTDI UMFTPD3A Universal Programmer Module is used to program FTDI development modules and ICs with internal OTP memory or eFUSE (electrical poly-fuse). The embedded OTP memory or eFUSE in the FTDI chips are used to store USB Vendor ID (VID), Product ID (PID), device serial number, product description string and chip configuration information. Store vendor specific information in the OTP or eFUSE and save the cost of an external EEPROM from the BOM.
