Wired Connectivity

Microchip Technology Wired Connectivity Solutions, based on the IEEE Ethernet standards, enable robust, reliable, high-speed connectivity and control when added to embedded designs. Ethernet enables systems to be monitored securely over the Internet, allows for precision control of industrial motors at production facilities, and enables new IoT products with common MCU interfaces like PCI/PCIe®, SPI, USB, and 8-/16-bit parallel bus. Microchip Ethernet solutions include highly integrated Ethernet PHYs, bridges, controllers, and switches complemented by a full line of PIC32 MCUs and SAM Arm® Cortex®-based MCUs and MPUs.

Microsemi Single Port Ethernet Transceivers are low-power, small form-factor Cu PHY with IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE). The transceivers are available in a small 6mm x 6mm or 8mm x 8mm single row QFN package. The transceivers feature Wake-on-LAN (WoL) which offers widest I/O LVCMOS support. Also including integrated line-side termination to conserve board space, lower EMI and improve system performance. Furthermore, integrated RGMII version 2.0 standard timing compliant compensation eliminates the need for onboard delay lines. The Single Port Ethernet Transceivers support the widest range of LVCMOS levels for a parallel MAC interface including 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V. Additionally, 1.2V, 1.5V, 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V support the MDIO/MDC interface. The transceivers include Microsemi’s EcoEthernet™ 2.0 technology with Energy Efficient Ethernet and power saving features. This is to reduce power based on link state and cable reach. Also, the transceivers optimize power consumption at all link operating speeds, and features Wake-on-LAN power management using magic packets.
VSC8540XMV-03, VSC8541XMV, and VSC8541XMV-03 Single Port Ethernet Transceivers have a recovered clock output for Synchronous Ethernet applications. The programmable clock squelch control is included in restraining unwanted clocks from propagating and to help prevent timing loops. VSC8540-03 and VSC8541XMV also includes Fast Link Failure 2.0 indication for high availability networks. The transceivers add a programmable threshold for applications where warning of even a probable link drop must be known at the microsecond level (<10μs).
