Varistors & Thermistors

EPCOS / TDK offers various types of varistors and thermistors that provide voltage and noise suppression as well as temperature measurement and compensation in automotive applications. 

Leaded Transient Voltage/RFI Suppressors (SHCVs)

TDK Leaded Transient Voltage/RFI Suppressors (SHCVs) provide reliable protection against automotive transients such as load dump and jumpstart. These varistors offer RFI noise suppression and transient overvoltage protection integrated into a single component. The SHCVs are designed in a combination of multilayer RF filter capacitor and multilayer varistors. TDK Leaded Transient Voltage/RFI Suppressors feature high capacitance (up to 4.7µF) and low clamping voltage and are RoHS-compatible. Applications include RFI noise suppression and transient overvoltage protection on DC lines of small motors, windscreen wipers, window lifters, mirrors, central locking, and memory seat.

Ceramic Transient Varistors

TDK EPCOS Ceramic Transient Varistors feature very low capacitance range of 0.6 to 10pF and bidirectional ESD protection in one component. These devices exhibit no change in ESD protection performance at temperatures and ESD protection to IEC 61000-4-2, level 4. The Ceramic Transient Varistors offer up to 85°C (temperature derating), low parasitic inductance, low leakage current, and <0.5ns fast response time. Applications include industrial, mobile phones, consumer electronics, and interfaces.
