MSP430F5xx Series Microcontrollers

Texas Instruments MSP430F5xx Microcontroller (MCU) family is an ultra-low power addition to the TI MCU portfolio that provides designers with enhanced performance and increased design options. These Texas Instruments MSP430F5™ MCUs include new and innovative peripherals on chips that feature more memory and integrated capabilities and use less power than ever before.The MSP430F5 family features a powerful 16-bit RISC CPU, 16-bit registers, and constant generators that contribute to maximum code efficiency. These MCUs include a high-performance 12-bit ADC, up to four universal serial communication interfaces, hardware multiplier, DMA, real time clock module with alarm capabilities, and up to 87 I/O pins.

Cold Chain Solutions

Texas Instruments offers a variety of solutions for cold chain management. Cold chain management includes all of the means used to ensure a constant temperature for a product that is not heat stable from the time it is manufactured or farmed until the time it is used. With increasing safety regulations such as Good Distribution Policies (GDP), FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), EU Commission (EN12830) and World Health Organization (WHO), cold chain management is being required in more and more applications. The solutions offered by Texas Instruments include temperature sensors, humidity sensors, optical sensors and MSP430 FRAM microcontrollers.

MSP430FR5969 16-bit Mixed-Signal Microcontrollers

Texas Instruments MSP430FR5969 Mixed-Signal Microcontrollers are MSP430 MCUs with a 16-channel analog comparator, 12-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), enhanced universal serial communication interfaces, five 16-bit timers with up to seven capture/compare registers each, 32-bit hardware multiplier, 3-channel internal DMA, and real-time clock (RTC) with calendar and alarm functions. Based on an ultra-low power (ULP) FRAM platform that combines uniquely embedded FRAM and a holistic ultra-low power system architecture, the MSP430FR5969 allows designers to increase performance at lowered energy budgets. 

MSP430FRx Ultra Low-Power FRAM MCUs

Texas Instruments MSP430FRx Ultra Low-Power FRAM Microcontrollers (MCUs) consist of embedded FRAM non-volatile memory plus an ultra-low-power 16-bit MSP430 CPU, and different peripherals targeted for various applications. These MCUs feature seven low-power modes that are optimized to achieve extended battery life in portable and wireless sensing applications. With FRAM non-volatile memory, it combines the speed, flexibility, and endurance of SRAM with the stability and reliability of flash with lower total power consumption. These devices include a variety of peripherals, including a 10-bit ADCs, 16-channel comparator, and hysteresis capabilities, three enhanced serial channels capable of I2C, SPI, or UART protocols, internal DMA, hardware multiplier, real-time clock, five 16-bit timers, and more. These devices are ideal for use in cold chain applications because they allow the engineer to write quickly to save power. By using flexible non-volatile FRAM you can store applications, data, or both. By using FRAM, it also allows the highest reliability by being able to log data continuously with a 1015 write endurance and proven 10-year data retention at 85ºC. The MSP430FRx-EP devices have gold bond wires, a temperature range of –55 to +105°C, and include an SnPb lead finish.
