BOURNS PCN Tracking Number 48 Copper Wire Color Change

BOURNS has announced that the TISP Overvoltage Protection
Products assembled using the 8-pin SOP (210 mil EIAJ) package
will now be made with copper wire instead of gold wire.
Copper wire is now a technically viable alternative to gold
wire after several years' development of the wirebond process
by mainstream bonder suppliers. Implementation of this change
will begin in July 2009.  There is no impact on form, fit,
function, or reliability.  Please see below for the list of
affected part numbers.

TISP Thyristor Overvoltage Protectors

Bourns TISP® Thyristor Surge Protectors are surge protective devices with characteristics very different than the normal SCR (Silicon Controlled Rectifier) and TRIAC (Triode for AC Control) type thyristors. Thyristor Surge Protector Device current parameters cover a range from a few nanoamps to hundreds of amps. A similar situation exists for thyristor SPD voltages, where there can be a wide range from several volts to hundreds. Bourns TISP Thyristor Surge Protectors are specially designed to provide protection for telecommunications equipment in instances where high voltages occur as a result of lightning strikes, power line crosses, or a/c power surges.
